Just to make sure everyone’s on the same page, here we define our standards. How we measure hinge length. How we measure offset and standoffs, fastener hole placement, weights of materials and tolerances.

Finish vs. environment is critical in exterior hardware. Some people like rusting hardware – most don’t. In my experience, rusting is the number one cause of shutter hardware failure. Running rust on the home is the number one pet peeve of the homeowner.

The rusting inevitably comes down to failure of the original finish to protect the metal beneath. We’ve spent a lot of time experimenting with finishes traditional and contemporary. We go back and inspect hardware installed with different finishes in different environments and see how each has fared. We give you our best effort to provide a product that not only looks as good as it can, but will withstand the elements with minimal maintenance.
