Heavy Notched Stainless Shutter Hinges & Pintles

The number one hardware choice for
installing shutters on masonry construction

A very functional hardware approach.  Based on historic hardware, this Brandywine exclusive is designed to easily install on masonry structures.  The shutter is sized to fit in the rough masonry opening.  The pintle installs with two heavy fasteners safely removed from the edges of the opening:Pintle easily installs on masonry, the window is not involved with the hardware, so your warranty will not be in jeopardy,Fits properly on narrow bottom rails with pintle passing above window sill.Traditional lift off hinges allow easy removal of shutters for maintenance.

Dimensions:  2” tall x 5-½” wide.  First fastener hole 2” from the barrel.

$ 38.50/pair

Installed notched hardware – our #705 notched storm strap hinge used with #307 notched female pintles and a #620 barrel bolt to secure a ground floor window in the closed & locked position.  This example installed on a late 19th century coffin factory in Charleston, SC.

This window shows some advantages of notched hardware – only two heavy fasteners are used on each pintle, minimizing the installation time and potential trauma to the old brick.  Note how the straight-line profile of the hinges and pintles fit neatly on the relatively narrow bottom rail without encroaching on the window sill.

The 620 barrel bolt finishes off the “iron bound” look of the closed window.  I think the black on black looks sharp.

The same window.  A heavy hook holds the shutter in the open position – simple, sturdy hardware typical of an early commercial structure.  Very much at home in that lovely historic town.

Further advantages of the notched hardware are kinda hard to see… which is a good thing.  The straight-line profile of the hinge and pintle means that in the open position the pintle is completely covered by the open shutter.  The only indication of the involved hardware are the mated barrels protruding just beyond the inside edge of the shutter.

A clean and sturdy installation that’s an eye-catching upgrade to the structure, ready to fend off centuries of ocean winds & storms.
