Shutter Locks > 660 - “ 7 th Avenue Shutter Stay”™
A clever and very functional approach to holding shutters open and closed; they were very common in the late 19th and early 20th century. Any number of variations of this hardware reflects a large number of original manufacturers. Our interpretation is based on a set called the “Zimmerman Fast” as shown in a Boston hardware catalogue that dates from 1889. 19th century examples tended to use cast iron components. We’ve chosen to follow early 19th century plate fabrication to avoid the breakage problems associated with cast iron.
