Shutter Locks > 620 – New England Fast
Made by my buddy Greg Dales, founder of Beech River Mill Company (he was on This Old House with Bob Vilas making wood shutters in his water powered mill in New Hampshire.) These really are New England . The shutters typically have the bottom rail notched to accept these latches (shutter “horns.”) One fast attaches to the bottom of each shutter. The spring action of the fast engages a clip on the window sill to lock the shutter closed then engages in a latch driven into the face of the structure to hold the shutter open. They work well and you see tons of them in New England, but they’re easily accessible and provide no security against intruders.
