Shutter Locks > 601 – Colonial Strap Lock

The early examples of “strap locks” match the patterns of the strap hinges – not so they’d look nice, but rather because screw machines hadn’t been invented and the locks had to be attached with the same hand-forged fasteners as the strap hinges.

We custom-make each of these locks to fit any shutter width and thickness. The example shown matches our most common shutter strap hinge termination and most surviving originals, but can be made to any form.
